99 East Golf Club Langkawi
About 99 East Golf Course
This used to be the first and oldest golf course in the island which was then known as The Langkawi Golf Club. After several years of complete redesign and revamping, the course has been reborn in the year 2012 and renamed as 99 East Golf Club.
This is a championship 18-hole par-72 golf course located in an oceanfront land almost half way between Kuah town and Pantati Cenang. The total length of the course is 7330 yards. The course has been redesigned by renowned Australian golf architect Ross Watson.

So as expected, much of its design has been inspired by Australian as well as Scottish Golf Courses. However, the Malaysian touch is seen with layers of rice field terraces fringing the course and the mountains & rainforests providing the beautiful backdrop.
99 East is actually a massive project that encompasses residential and luxury resort complex which would be centered around this golf courses. However outside memberships and guests are also welcome in the club.

Course Information
The first five holes are laid up along the hilly slope. The par-5 sixth hole is probably the best with sweeping views of the mountains on the west and the Kuah bay on the right. From here on the fairways and remaining holes go down the slope though forested lands and greens towards a wetland where there is a lovely lake and then to a lovely valley of orchards.
Over all with several bunkers, sand traps, water hazards and tricky fairways the course offers great challenges to even the experienced golfers. The Clubhouse is located on an elevated area with wonderful views of the ocean and the islands further off, as well as the rainforests & the mountains.
