July is when the regular rain starts settling in and you can expect rains on about 15 days in the month. However it never rains incessantly in Langkawi. It will be mostly short showers and sometimes a bit heavy, but mostly towards the evening or at night.
The day's high temperature would be hovering around 31°C. Going by average and day's lowest temperature, July is usually one of the coolest months in Langkawi. But the humidity in this month becomes very high. Day time humidity easily touches 93°. So you can sweat heavily if you are out in the sun. But the month continues to be great for swimming, snorkeling and other water sports and despite some rains, there is still enough sunshine.
The tourists would have mostly gone by now and the island looks really empty and laid back. Most restaurants that would run until late hours at night during the high season would close earlier. But visitors do get great discounts at the hotels, tours and car rentals as the demand comes down sharply around this time. So if you plan for an economy or a budget vacation in Langkawi while enjoying all its charms and offerings, then this is a great time to choose. All tours, excursions, cruises etc continue to operate at lower rates.
The Mu'adzam Shah Trophy Golf Tournament organized by Bay View Hotel is held in July. Golfers from all over Asia participate in this tournament. The Royal patron is the Sultan of Kedah.
Rambutan Trail is a strange and funny event organized by the Department of Agriculture, Kedah. Anybody can participate in the event. You can pick up and eat any amount of Rambutans which is a kind of a hairy fruit and comes in different types. However the event also includes various other contests like Rambutan counting, fishing, dart etc.
