September Highlights
The so called real monsoon season sets in during the month of September. So if you think there will be heavy rains all the time, then you are wrong. Yes it is true that there may be rains in about 22 days in the month. But even during the peak monsoon season in Langkawi, it usually does not rain for more than two hours a day. And that too it usually showers during the late afternoons or nights. When you wake up, there are high chances that you will see a bright sunny morning that lasts through the first half.
The maximum temperature reaches around 31°C, but the showers bring the temperature down in the evenings to a very pleasant level. In fact like July, September is also one of the coolest months. However, the day's humidity continues to remain very high and above the comfortable limits. So do not take heavy outdoor exposure during the day unless of course you are swimming or snorkeling. The sea temperature remains very comfortable.
There would be virtually no tourists around this time. So you can avail of great discounts from the hotels, tours and car rentals.
If it is the month of Ramadan, the Muslims who are vast majority in the island would be fasting from sunrise till the sunset all through the month. In Kuah Town, Ramadan Bazaar sets up after sunrise where many vendors setup food stalls selling homemade local food and helping others break the fast. The bazaar is open to all including non-Muslims.
Malaysia Fest is held in this month over a fortnight where many establishments including restaurants, hotels, shops and food stores celebrate and showcase the rich culinary heritage and culture of the country and that of Langkawi.
