November Highlights
November marks the end of Monsoon season in Langkawi, although there would be still some rains during this month. On an average, there may be rains on about 19 days in the month, but for short duration though.
Mostly it rains in the late afternoons or evenings. Sometimes there may also be thunderstorms during this period. Mornings are usually dry and sunny. Tourist inflow in the island starts picking up over the month and the rates in the hotels and tours start climbing back to the peak.
The maximum temperature touches around 32°C but comes down to about 23°C in the evenings making it quite pleasant. However like most months, the humidity remains high and there can be good amount of sweating if you stay out in the sun.
The annual Langkawi International Fishing Tournament is held in November. Anglers participate from all over the world and join the competition for the biggest catch and get cash prizes. The event is organized by Langkawi Development Authority.
Another popular Hindu festival Deepavali (the festival of lights) is held in November all across the island. The day marks the end of Monsoon. The evening sky gets illuminated with fireworks as islanders celebrate late into night. They also light up oil lamps and candles at homes and shops.
