If you search the net with 'Top Land Tour Operators in Langkawi', all you will probably get are some online booking agents who are nothing but agents having tie ups with some local operators in Langkawi.
So why can't you find a land operator in Langkawi directly? That's because there is no single tour operator in the island who specializes only in land tours. Most if not all actually offer different kinds of tour packages including land and water based tours.
More over, you actually do not need any operator if you are planning to go around the island for a Day Discovery Tour or the Island Day Tour. Just hop into a taxi, hire it by the hour (minimum 4 hours required) and then get around the island. This is the easiest and the cheapest. So what do you do? Well there is no harm in booking a chauffeur driven car or a van or even a coach through them. The only issue is, in most cases although they might include a guide on your request, it often turns out to be the driver himself who doubles up as the guide. But unfortunately, most drivers in the island can not speak English.
So unless you understand Malay, this arrangement may not be of any use to you. You will face the same problem with taxi drivers as well. While they know all the places and can take you quickly to such places, most neither have any knowledge about the places nor can communicate any information about it.
So if you must go through an operator, then I guess the best option is to go through the bigger players who have vehicles of their own and can provide a knowledgeable English speaking guide. But it all might come at a bit of a higher cost though. However most will be willing to customize a local tour for you if you so want and offer you a good price.
