JivaRhu Spa at Tanjung Rhu Resort
The word Jiva in Sanskrit means Life, and the spa here so named to stand for holistic wellnessof body, mind and spirit. In line with this theme, the resort has allocated a 3-acre land area in its premises dedicated to the spa and associated services like the fitness center, yoga, outdoor Jacuzzi etc.
They call it a 'Wellness Village' as the units here are scattered and there are enough spaces in between for one to enjoy the nature, sun and relax.
The spa is located at one corner of the resort, has a nice garden setting with lots of trees and plantations around, and overlooks the beach and the ocean. As you approach the spa, straight ahead id the well equipped fitness center. The open roof top of the fitness center is used for yoga practices and lessons.

Spa Treatments & Offerings
There are 12 spa villas at the wellness area, out of which 8 are single units and 4 are with twin beds so that a couple can have their treatments together. The spa boasts of offering its own blend of massages and treatments instead of following standard recipes. However the treatments offered are inspired by several practices including the Traditional Malay, Thai, Indonesian and Ayurvedic. They also offer fusion massages like Aromatherapy and rainforest.
Some of the popular massages here include the traditional Thai massage, traditional Malay massage, traditional Indonesian (Balinese) massage, aromatherapy massage etc. Foot reflexology helps in blood circulation in the body and releasing muscle tension. Other offerings include facial, wraps, scrubs, pedicure, manicure etc. The spa villas have their own garden settings. There are also sauna and steam rooms.

I met up with an Indian therapist at JivaRhu who specialized in Ayurvedic treatments. He said he came all the way from Tamilnadu (a state in the southern part of India) to apply all the knowledge he gathered over the years.

Note that although the wellness area as a whole overlooks the beach and the garden, there is not much views from some spa rooms/villas, other than through the door. However once immersed in a treatment, you want to close your eyes anyway. They offer welcome herbal drink for certain treatments. Once you are done with your therapy, take a stroll through the garden and the spa area. Unless it's hot outside (which it is on a sunny day), it's a pleasant experience.

Note that the Spa itself does not have a contact. Call up the resort concierge or front desk and make the booking. The resort allows both in-house and outside guests to use the spa on prior reservation.
