There are numerous hotels of all types in Kuah including budget, mid range and luxury hotels. This is the capital town and the main hub of commercial activities in the island. If you plan to stay in close proximity to duty free shopping centers, variety of restaurants & eateries, bars & pubs, then Kuah is the place to stay.
However for beaches you should head towards Pantai Cenang which is about 20 minutes drive from Kuah. Kuah is also convenient for those coming or leaving by the ferry as the main ferry jetty is located here. Although some of the hotels (mainly the luxury ones though) offer views of the water, there is no beach in Kuah town (except one near the CHOGM park which is quite small and a private beach).
So do not expect much water based activities if you plan to stay here. However, the popular beach areas along the western coasts like Pantai Cenang and Tengah are only 20 minutes away by taxi. And there is plenty of taxis available in Kuah.

It's a small hotel located in the heart of the town and in the same building where there is a large duty free shopping complex. It has 10 rooms including family rooms. Free in-room wi-fi.
It's a small hotel located within walking distance to the Kuah Jetty and Lagenda park. There are well furnished 10 rooms. The hotel has a restaurant and offers free in-room wi-fi, small fridge, coffee maker etc.

A 2-star hotel with 49 rooms and located conveniently in Kuah town. This white & red striped hotel has a nice frontage with a bridge leading past the hotel by the side. Offers in-house restaurant, free wi-fi in the lobby area, air conditioning, in-room electric kettle, TV, mini bar etc. The best part is the location being next to the Night Market and close to several shops and restaurants.
A 4-star hotel located in the middle of the town and has 282 rooms of different types including sea view and hill view rooms. Many upscale amenities are provided including outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, restaurants & bars, fitness room, salon, in-room wi-fi (chargeable) etc. The main attractions of the hotel are its sea view rooms and its proximity to top shopping areas and restaurants.

Located conveniently and next to the Langkawi Baron Hotel, My Hotel has 154 rooms with free wi-fi and most with balconies. It has in-house restaurant, bar and outdoor pool.
a nice property located centrally in Kuah and within easy walking distance to several eateries and even duty free malls. The hotel is Muslim friendly and has a separate pool for women. There are several types of rooms and suites with modern amenities including free wifi. Rooms either overlook the town or the ocean. The in-house restaurant serves good local and international food (mostly non-vegetarian though). The breakfast spread is excellent and so is service. A great value for money hotel if you are in business or looking to stay centrally in Kuah. No alcohol is served.

Highlights include a great Spa, several restaurants with different specializations, great 5-star amenities and a quiet location although convenient. This is one of the latest luxury properties in Langkawi that belongs to the Marriott group.
Touted as the second best resort in the whole island, Westin is spread across a vast stretch of area and has 222 rooms all with luxury amenities. It has its own private beach of 500 meters stretch, infinity pool, reputed Spa and many other great facilities.
