On 13th the Kilim Geopark plan looks tight, particularly because the check in time at hotel is 2pm. You will need to rush. Expect rains, mostly in the second half. Visibility from Cable Car stations may be low. You will start getting taxis from 7am.

Hi Raj,
Came across this page and definitely will need your guidance as I am solo traveler and have a few destination that I would really love to drop by for this trip to Langkawi. However, with limited time I am trying to squeeze in almost everything. Arriving 7 Oct night and flying off on 9 Oct noon.
Hope you could assist me and also do you have any recommendation of any hotels or villa which is nearby to beach as I'm a beach LOVER. Budget at RM250 - RM300 per night would be alright. However, if due to my pack itinerary you may also suggest which area would be best to stay for convenience.
If you think it ain't pack perhaps you can suggest to add in a fewplaces which I should not miss.
Below is my Itinerary :
Day 1 - Arriving at 8.45pm
- Dinner at Kuah Town (night market)
- Spa ( recommendations?)
Day 2
- Skybridge + Cable Car + Oriental Village
- Island Hopping Tour
- Underwater world + Cenang Beach (Sunset)
Day 3
-Eagle Square + Shopping
- Departing flight at 1.25pm
Hope to hear from you soon. Thank You much.

Hi Pei,
You can consider staying at Bayview Hotel in Kuah (you can get rooms in your range). It's centrally located and nice. Alun Alun Spa is located at the 3rd level and open until 11pm. Your itinerary is nice... don't need to change anything.

The Zon Duty Free is in Pantai Cenang. The one at Pantai Kok area is in Oriental Village and a small one. You won't likely have any time for pony ride on day-1. Take the seaside dinner at The Cliff at Pantai Cenang... read my review. On Day-3, Telaga Tujuh may take half a day if you plan to climb up to the top pool area.

Good day. I will be going to Langkawi from KL on 17 Oct, reaching at 3.15 pm and leaving langkawi on 19 Oct, 6pm (3D2N). my draft itinerary is as below:
17 Oct : Land tour - eagle square, underwater world/cable car/skybridge, shopping
18 Oct : Pulau Payar Marine Park / Island hopping ( Which is better?)
19 Oct : Kayak tour at Kilim Geopark & return.
Kindly advise me based on your expert opinion. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you in advance.

Hi, Pulau Payar Marine Park is great for snorkeling and diving, while island hopping is for sightseeing and experiencing part of Geopark. Both are good in their own ways - the choice would depend on what you want. On day1, start with Underwater World (keep a check on time) followed by Cable Car, and then Eagle Square etc. Rest is fine.

Hi Raj,
I'm amazed on how you helped out those tourist like me to planned their get away to Langkawi. I hope you can also suggest for my planned itinerary. We wish to spend our anniversary for 3D2N stay in Langkawi. Will arrive at the airport around 3:10PM on Nov 8. Return Flight Nov 10 around 10am.
Things I planned to do:
1. Spa/Massage, shopping
2. Island hopping or Island tour
3. Sunset cruise with dinner on the night of Nov.9
Is it also advisable to buy packages of above activities online. Or much better on the spot choose? Also for transportation taking taxi is much better? Anyway, We'll be staying at Pantai Cenang. Thank you and hope to hear from you. All the best!
Sam (September 2015)
|
Hi, you can plan your Spa on day1 in the second half. In Pantai Cenang you can consider, Alun Alun Spa (Mid Range). If you like to indulge, the spa at hotel Casa Del Mar (opposite to Alun Alun) is the place to go. No need to buy packages online.
For Island Hopping, there are numerous tour operators in Pantai Cenang along the road, but most are only mediators. They will transport you to Pantai Tengah jetty and handover to a separate boat operator for a tour with several others. Since it's your anniversary, you can take a taxi (3-4 mins drive), go down to the jetty and consider chartering a small boat for island hopping.
To select a sunset cruise (you should book this one in advance by directly contacting them), go through this link

Hi Raj, first of all, thanks for the awesome guide about Langkawi. KUDOS! This is our first time to Langkawi (group of 12), so if you don't mind, could you please help to check on our itinerary?
Day 1 : Arrival in afternoon > wildlife park > mahsuri tomb > field of burnt rice
Day 2 : Island hop > cable car > underwater world
Day 3 : Geopark > eagle square > shopping
Day 4 : Departure
Is there anything to be added? By the way, we will be staying in Kuah. Thanks in advance! :)

Hi, first of all, thanks for providing your professional advice for travellers going to Langkawi. This is our 1st trip to Langkawi on a family of 4, with 2 children aged 9 and 5. We are arriving on 9 Dec 2015 at around 10.30 am and departing on 13 Dec 15 at around 10pm (flight time). We have booked the Westin Langkawi from 9 to 12 Dec 15 and Bayview Hotel from 12 to 13 Dec 15. We are planning to do the following activities during our stay:
Day 1: Take taxi from airport to SkyBridge/Oriental Village for sightseeing (since hotel check in is at 3pm). We intend to book the taxi for 5hrs and send us back to hotel after this.
Day 2: Island Hopping at Coral Island & Sunset Cruise
Day 3: Relax and enjoy the beach at hotel and visit the Underwater World thereafter.
Day 4: Explore and shopping at Kuah Town
Day 5: Continue with shopping and transfer to airport for flight return.
Rachel Lum (September 2015)
|
Hi, nice relaxed itinerary. On day-3 try out a massage at 'Heavenly Spa' at Westin overlooking the pool and the beach beyond, and surrounded by trees. Lovely ambiance... you will be taken there by a battery operated cart unless you want to walk. Not sure what you mean by Coral Island ... if you are talking about the operator 'Langkawi Coral', then I would advise that you check online reviews and choose a good operator. Island Hopping is a standard boat tour covering three islands including Dayang Bunting.

Hi Raj,
After reading through the guides, i have tried my best to plan for my family's 1st trip to langkawi. Need some advice from you on the itinerary. Thanks in advance! Have not decide where to stay yet. Based on my itinerary, can you suggest whether Pantai cenang or pantai kok is a better place to stay?
9 Dec 2015 Wed Reach langkawi airport at 1240pm.
On the way to hotel (pantai kok), drop by Pantai Cenang to book for island hopping tour and Kilim Geopark and Mangrove tour (Malibest Resort)?
10 Dec 2015 Thu
- 9am Island hopping.
- Taxi to Cable Car in Pantai Kok. Lunch at Oriental Village
- Cable car + skybridge + Oriental village walk and shopping.
- Duck Tour? What time duck tour closes and where to buy tix?
- Or Trek up 7 wells waterfall. How to go from cable car to waterfall?
11 Dec 2015 Fri
- 9am Kilim Geopark and Mangroves Tour
- After that taxi to Kuah town or hang around Cenang beach watch sunset?
12 Dec 2015 Sat
330pm flight from Langkawi airport.
Once again, which part should we stay based on the itinerary? Cenang area or pantai kok?
Thanks for your time and help!
Joelle (October 2015)
|
Cenang would be more convenient for your plan. Duck tour tickets are available outside the main gate (gate A) of Oriental Village. It operates till 5:30pm. There is a trail at Cable car that goes up to Seven Wells waterfalls, but expect tiring hikes.

Hi,
Me and my wife will be visiting Langkawi from 22nd Nov'15 to 25th Nov'15. We reach at 9:30AM on 22nd. We would be staying at the Sunset resort at Pantai Cenang on 22nd and at Taj Vivanta on 23rd and 24th. We plan to do the Marine park tour with snorkelling on 22nd and spend the evening at leisure or visit the weekly night market.
On 23rd, we have planned to do the Island hopping tour and hopefully be back around 1:30 so that we can check in at Taj.
On 24th we plan to do the Oriental village/cable car/ skybridge at leisure.
We fly back at 2:00 pm on 25th.
Our concern is the last ferry to Rebak island is at 7:45pm which will limit our time spent on the Mainland. Can we arrange private ferries to drop us if we are late?
Also are there activities to do from Rebak island? And do you think we will need to rent a car/bike for 22nd?
Kindly send your suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Mukunth (October 2015)
|
There is usually no ferry to Rebak island after 7:45pm unless you prearrange with the resort. There is a whopping extra charge to the tune of rm160 (and more beyond mid-night) for a ferry pick up or drop (one way). No need to rent a car on 22nd .. just take a taxi.

Hi Raj,
I am travelling to Langkawi for 2 days along with my wife - We'll reach on 30th November morning at around 9:30 AM. I am thinking of below itinerary:
Day 1: After checking in (Bell Vista, Kuah) and taking some rest - head towards Sky Bridge at around 11 AM- Spend 3-4 hours there and come back to Kuah to visit Shopping center and Eagle Square - Spend rest of the evening at pool in hotel.
Day 2: Start early for Island hopping tour followed by Underwater world - Need suggestion on any other activity on Day2.
On Day 3 morning, we'll take a ferry to Penang - We can leave a little later during lunch time, if you suggest something to do on Day 3 as well for 2-3 hours.
Any suggestions on itinerary are welcome.
Aseem (November 2015)
|
On day-2, add a visit to the north shore in the 2nd half ... Tanjung Rhu Beach, Shark Bay Beach (and opposite to that Craft Complex). On Day-3, visit Atma Alam Batik Village in Padang Matsirat.

Hi there.. I need your help to finalize my plan of visiting Langkawi. I will be arriving at 5.30 p.m on 21st December and will check in at Hotel Bahagia and will be in Langkawi until 24th December morning. Here is my suggested trip:
21st Dec: Arrival and free and easy (any activity suggested?)
22nd Dec: Langkawi Cable car, Mahsuri Tombs and Cultural Village and Duck Tours (Evening: Shopping? pasar malam?)
23rd Dec: Underwater world, Art in Paradise, Galleria Perdana and??? Evening?
24th Dec: check out
I've been to Langkawi 5 years ago with friends and I'm bringing my husband for this trip. So, its sort of like honeymoon to us.. will really need your suggestion as wanted to make the trip as best it can be.. Thank you and looking forward for your reply..
Sylvia (November 2015)

Hi, Art in Paradise should be combined with cable car, they are both at Oriental Village, and so is duck tour. On 23rd, do Island Hopping boat tour in the morning (start by 9am), then Underwater World. In the evening, visit the night market at Kuah (your hotel is also in Kuah).

Hi, my family of 3, with a 10-year old boy, will be visiting Langkawi for the first time next week for 6 days from 22-27 Dec. We prefer a relaxed, free-and-easy itinerary this time, and hope to experience more of the local life, instead of the tourist hangouts. Are there any night markets, or food centres that the locals frequent? Will there be any special celebrations on Christmas Day? Based on the weather forecast, it seems that the week of 22-27 Dec will be wet with
rain and showers. Are there any good indoor activities that my boy can enjoy? I intend to rent a car to get around when I arrive at the airport.
Day 1: Arrival
Visit Kuah shopping centre
Day 2:
am: Visit Morac Go-Kart track
pm: Visit Telaga Tujuh or Durian Perangin waterfall
Day 3:
am: Cable car ride and suspension bridge
Day 4: Christmas day
Day 5:
am: Visit Pantai Kok beach
pm: Visit Buffalo park
Day 6:
Visit shopping centre for last minute shopping
Depart for home
Thanks in advance!
Alex (December 2015)

Hi, your itinerary is good and relaxed.
Christmas celebrations usually take place in the hotels and some restaurants (mostly live music and performances). There will be lighting on the streets and shops, and special menu at several restaurants. For local food and night markets which are quite popular among locals, visit This Link. Not many indoor activities for children. Visit Underwater World... you can spend couple of hours over there.

Hi, on day1, visit Perdana Quay (Telaga Harbor) in the evening. It's close by. On day2 if you want to do both, then you need to charter a boat and rush through Kilim geopark which otherwise takes almost 5-6 hours. You don't have time for Pulau Payar marine park.

Overall it's a great itinerary. Couple of points to note:
On day2, in order to keep within time, you should ideally take a chartered boat from Kilim in the first half. On day4, I suggest you remain in Pantai Cenang and explore Laman Padi museum (if that doesn't seem too interesting, then experience a fish spa), and visit 3D Museum as part of Oriental Village on Day3 (it's in the same place).

Hi,
It is a great time to read through all the reviews, really value added. I and my spouse will travel to Langkawi this May for 4D3N. This is our 1st trip to Langkawi. Appreciate you can provide me some advice on my below draft itinerary.
Day 1 - Thursday (reach Langkawi airport @ 11am)
Accomodation at Aseania langkawi resort, will visit Dataran Lang (eagle square) + Pantai Cenang (Sunset) - Shopping @ Zon Duty Free
Day 2 - Friday
- Plan for Cable Car, Sky Bridge, seven wells (telaga tujuh), Oriental village walk, 3D Art Museum, shopping nearby & Galeria Perdana (not sure how long the duration to spend at all this places, appreciate for advice)
- Check out from Aseania Resort and move to hotel at Kuah area
Day 3 - Saturday
Geo Park & Mangrove, & Underwater world (is there any place that i can add in here?)
Day 4 - Sunday (depart to airport from hotel at 12pm)
Don't know how to plan for the morning section - maybe duty free shopping at nearby.
Is there any night market we shall visit? Wish to go for island hoping, but seems our itinerary quite pack. Thinking to visit the crocodile farm as well. Please advice is there any places mentioned shall be removed from my itinerary.
Not sure we shall rent a car for 3 days during our stay at Langkawi or to just take a taxi where ever we go. Please advice. Thanks.

Hi, Underwater World is a short walk from Aseania Hotel, so visit that on day-1. Visit Eagle Square while in Kuah and after returning from Geopark tour, also visit the night market in Kuah on Saturday.

Hi Raj,
First off, thank you for all of these Langkawi Insights. I am planning a trip on Langkawi on Sept 11-14, 2016. I just have some questions below:
1. Is it safe to travel alone? I am a solo traveler but this is my first time going on an International trip.
2. I will be arriving in Langkawi on the 11th of Sept at 2:55pm. I don't have any hotel yet to stay however, I am planning of getting a less expensive hotel near the airport so i could spend my first afternoon to shop around the town or walk around. Is it possible?
3. On my second day, is it possible to visit the sky cable car, sky bridge, dataran lang, and telaga tujuh in one day? Or is there any tours I can just book that will maximized my day 2?
4. on the third day, I am planning to visit the underwater world, the eagle statue and the pulau langkawi and even kilim geo park as well as the gunung raya and durian perangin. Is it possible as well?
5. on my third day (which is on the 14th), what else can I do before I fly out in the afternoon going back to KL? Do you have any suggestions?
Hoping for your fast reply. Thank you,
Geizel Magno (March 2016)
|
Hi, you seem to have confused a few things. Dataran Lang and Eagle Square (statue) are the same, and Pulau Langkawi means the whole of Langkawi Island. There is not much shopping at the airport area (Padang Matsirat). Stay at Kuah town instead (great for shopping) or at Pantai Cenang (great beach, good shopping and popular tourist place). Langkawi is quite safe. Visit underwater world on your day of departure in the morning. On day3 visit Kilim Geopark and if time permits, either Durian Perangin or Gunung Raya.

Hi Raj, it is good to see everything about Langkawi is put at one place here. Your website really helped me a lot to create an itinerary on my own. I hope you can help me to improve the itinerary to ensure our stay at Langkawi be more exciting. Your kind feedback will be much helpful. Thanks.
-Will be travelling with wife and a toddler
-Will spend all nights at Holiday Villa Beach Resort
-Will be hiring car from arrival until departure
21 May 2016 (arriving airport at 1200)
- check in resort
- free and easy at resort
- dinner, shopping, walk by the beach at Cenang
22 May 2016
- underwater world
- oriental village (cable car, etc) (by what time we need to reach here after underwater world?)
- seafood dinner nearby resort (any suggestion of good restaurant)
23 May 2016
- kilim geopark (boat tour)
- dataran lang
- shopping, dinner at Kuah town (any recommendation of shopping mall or outlet)
24 May 2016 (departing by flight at 1700)
- check out resort at 1200
- is there any place for good lunch and sightseeing just before going to airport?
Jason (March 2016)
|
Hi, you can reach Oriental Village after lunch. There is no great seafood restaurant nearby. You can try Privilege Restaurant in Perdana Quay complex at Telaga Harbor (few minutes drive from Oriental Village). The restaurant serves great fusion food including seafood (but it's not just a seafood restaurant, but one of the best in Langkawi). On your way to the airport, you can take your lunch at the Cliff Restaurant - sitting on a clifftop, it has sweeping view of the entire stretch of Cenang beach. I have full reviews of these restaurants in my site. There is hardly any sightseeing opportunity from your hotel to the Airport. You can visit Laman Padi in Cenang if you are interested in paddy fields, rice museum etc know how the process of rice cultivation has evolved in Malaysia. For shopping in Kuah, suggest you go through This Page.

Hye Raj... i'm so glad to reach ur site =)) I have planned my vacation with my spouse on the next week to Langkawi.

Day 2
Sky bridge, Cable car, Oriental village, Under water world
Day 3
Mangrove tour, Island hopping tour
Day 4
Do some shopping (dont know where shud we go for shopping as our flight will b at 5pm)

Hi, you can consider a romantic candle lit dinner at hotel Casa Del Mar (Pantai Cenang) on the Cenang beach at palm groves while watching the sunset. It hardly gets any better than this in Langkawi. A proper mangrove/geopark tour takes more than half a day, so doing Island Hopping on the same day is not recommended, but doable. You can go to Kuah for shopping on your last day. There are ample shopping malls around with duty free stores.

Hi Raj,
My husband and I will be having our vacation in langkawi next month. I have the below itinerary in mind. appreciate if you can comment and suggest other places to visit.
April 21: Arrival at the airport. take taxi to hotel. Free afternoon
April 22: Cable car and sky bridge in the morning and eagle square in the afternoon.
April 23: Beach in the morning (near Aseania Hotel) and birds park in the afternoon.
April: breakfast in the hotel and check out at 11am.
Thanks,
Aileen (March 2016)
|
Hi, nice relaxed itinerary. On 22nd after visiting Eagle Square, also visit Lagenda Park (a short walk) and then do some duty free shopping in Kuah town if interested. It can get very hot on the beach during the day time (very few people are around that time). So on 23rd, go to the Cenang beach early in the morning. During the day time, you can take an Island Hopping boat tour (3 hours and starts short distance away from Aseania). Do carry sun hats.

Take a full day Kilim Geopark and Mangroves boat tour. Book through Malibest Resort travel desk ... they are one of the best in this and economical. Alternatively take a full day boat tour to Pulau Payar Marine Park (starts from Kuah). Read my articles on these two and choose one.

Hi Raj,
We are planning to visit lankgavi from 10th april to 12th april. We are a family of 7 adults 2 children ( below age of 7) and 2 infants. We arrive at 11 am on 10th and have an international flight out from langkavi on 12th 3:00 pm. Wanted to know if it is possible to do a short Klim Geoforest tour on the 10th starting at approx 3:00 pm and then in the evening enjoy the Tanjung Rhu beach ? If yes, where can i book the tickets for the short tour? We are staying at the malibest resort at Pentai. Cenang. On 11th I plan to do the cable car, sky bridge and the 3D museum. What else can I do on 11th? Will I have the time ? I would be interested in eagle statue, glass blowing musuem, rice museum, batik museum. We do not want to do underwater world as we are visiting Singapore later.
Shweta Agrawal (March 2016)
|
Hi, you can go down to the Kilim Jetty and rent a boat for an hour to take a short tour of the geopark. After visiting Tanjung Rhu beach, visit Craft Complex and Glass Blowing studio (behind craft complex). On 11th and after the rides, go down to Telaga harbor (Perdana Quay complex) for lunch by the harbor-side boardwalk. You can then go down to Kuah to see Eagle Square, and next to it the Ladenla Park. Do some shopping at Kuah if you want. On your last day, visit Laman Padi rice museum and followed by Batik village in the morning.

Hi, if you stay at Pantai Cenang, consider the hotel Casa Del Mar.... excellent stay and romantic candlelit dining on the beach, plus spa. You can't snorkel during your visit to Kilim Geopark. However there will be opportunity for snorkeling during island hopping. Carry your snorkel gears.

Hi, on day3 complete island hopping by 1st half, go down to Kimlim jetty and take a 2-3 hour boat tour of Kilim geopark and mangroves. You can get a taxi at 7:15am. It should be okay if you start by 7:30am (for domestic flights).
